Carmin the Artist

My Brasil family is going back for four years, so we had a final bbq on Saturday. I find myself wanting to document these activities but I am torn between being a part of the activity or being behind the lens. Sometimes I don’t get any pictures, sometimes I feel like I missed the event.  My solution this time was to get my camera out and give it to my niece, Carmin. No instructions just put it on auto and told her to have fun.

She is an artist at heart and has done some amazing paintings and drawings. She has a great eye and I wanted to see what she would do with the camera. She started out with pics of the family.

Then moved on to more artistic things. I wish I could have taken a picture or two of her while she was taking pictures. It was priceless to see the concentration, I could almost see the wheels of creativity spinning in her head.

Some of them did not turn out prefect, they are a bit blurry, but I could see what she was going for and she is a great little photographer.

Spring came to visit

So this morning I was whining that I needed, and I do mean needed, to be outside in the sun. I needed to plant something, to get my hands dirty.

I did not think it would happen, and then – Spring came to visit.

It was not a long visit but it was a welcome visit.

I got my hands dirty, I planted some flowers and vegetables.

Ah – it was so nice to be out in the sun, even if it was short lived.

I went for oranges and yellows this year.

The wasps even dared to peek out of their hiding places. ( I really wish they would stay hiding)

The yellow finches were pigging out at the feeder, they are quite messy.

Found this old abandoned nest, I wish there were eggs in it.

I even came across a honey bee enjoying the brief spring visit.

Tim got in a quick mow on the new mower – love the cup holder! And then the thunderstorm came in, I did not take any pictures. I have had enough of the rain and cold. I only wanted to post the spring that came to visit today.

A few pics from the week

So I was thinking about my last post, and decided I really needed to find at least one photo worthy of posting. To my surprise I found a few that were not horrible. I think part of my problem, (besides work being so tough), is that we have not had spring yet. It is May 30th and I am sitting here in winter clothes. I am so ready for it to be sunny and warm. I am ready to be out in the garden, with my hands in the soil.

I am also finding that knitting, photography and everyday life are fighting for my time. So something takes a back seat – it is a struggle every day as to what wins, and that means there is always a loser. This week, knitting won.

So here are a few from the last week –

So Happy Memorial Day everyone, don’t forget to stop and pray for our military that are serving for us.

Sunday Best

Here are a few of my favorites from the week. I think this one of the abandoned house I took Saturday is my favorite. I would have loved to have gone in or gotten closer but there was a no trespassing sign, so a took a couple from a turn out on the road.

I wonder what the story behind the house is. What happened to cause it to be abandoned? Back in it’s prime I imagine it was an amazing house. There were several outbuildings still standing around it also. Abandoned house always send my mind wandering.

Here are a couple more favs –
